Performance assessment of solar and desiccant aided building air-conditioning system

Abstract Indoor thermal comfort significantly influences people’s health, happiness and consequently the output at workplace. Here, a systematic simulation study on conventional vapor compression-based building cooling system integrated with desiccant assisted dedicated outdoor air (DOAS) is performed using EnergyPlus software for warm humid climate zones. Impact of material in DOAS, load requirement building, coefficient performance (COP), energy consumption discussed. The design well-validated available guidelines. Desiccant supplies dehumidified inside space which affects evaporator performance. A flat plate solar collector used to supply hot regenerate material. Electric savings can be achieved up 5.5 %, whereas, COP not found affected even though demand reduces by nearly 13.5 % proposed modification.
